Letter from the Editors: New Year, New Developments

Dear readers and supporters of The Stripes,

With the new year right on the horizon, we’re looking back on the success of the past two months and looking forward to the realization of some exciting new developments and initiatives.

Since our launch on November 4th, The Stripes has published 24 pieces, received over 27,000 views and sparked countless conversations online and around campus. We’re thankful to all of you, our supporters, for making this possible.

On the immediate horizon, we have some important updates:
First, we’re pleased to announce that we have a fresh, new domain name at http://thestripesblog.com/, thanks to funding donated by Princeton alumna Sarah Chen!

On that note, we’re now prepared to accept donations! Although we are not-for-profit and our blog can be sustained largely for free, our long-term goals to publish a printed companion, to develop our website, and to introduce other campus initiatives will require funding. Please visit our support page, here, if you’re interested in showing your support financially.

Another exciting development is that we’re currently expanding our team. With new positions for design, administrative, and editorial business, we’re hoping that this year The Stripes can run more smoothly than ever! Contact us if you are interested in getting involved!

Lastly, we’d love to see and hear more of you! Look out for open invitations to our Round Table discussion series, and feel free to contribute ideas for discussion and article topics. Also, keep an eye open for more details about our opening reception on January 11th (tentatively in Princeton’s Carl A. Fields Center)!

After a bright start, we’re excited to see The Stripes grow even more in 2014. And we’re sure you’re excited, too. As always, like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @The_Stripes_ for the latest in race, culture, and minority identity.

Happy New Year!
