LETTER FROM THE EDITORS: BLACK HISTORY MONTH, VALENTINE’S DAY, AND MORE

Dear readers and supporters of The Stripes,

We’re back in action! After a month of slowed publication due to finals, we’ve got a lot in store for you.

In honor of Black History Month, The Stripes is rolling out a special Friday series and a Round Table discussion on issues pertaining to the black diaspora. While we encourage the constant discussion of all minority history and culture, February presents us with a special opportunity to contribute to the increase in conversations on blackness. In the future, The Stripes will recognize similar months of ethnic celebration.

But that’s not all. We’ve got a special lineup next week leading up to Valentine’s Day, featuring articles on fetishes, dating patterns, and sexuality. Look out for a special post intersecting with our BHM celebration on love/sexuality in the black community.

If you are interested in writing an article for either of this month’s themes, please get in touch with us at thestripesblog@gmail.com as soon as possible. But of course, our mailbox is always open for any and all submissions, inquiries and comments.

As always, like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter @The_Stripes_ for the latest in race, culture, and minority identity.

Thanks for reading!

Your Editor Board,
Aisha Oxley, Emily Tu, and Kovey Coles
